Liquid-Solid Interface Tension

convex meniscus of mercury can be explained by assuming a state of tension in the limiting layer of this liquid, not only at the free surface, but also in the area of contact with the containing vessel. But while free surface tension has ceased to be a hypothesis, the reality of a liquid-solid interface tension has not been proved. The following experiments are intended to fill this gap.
